The Design of
Ankora Retaining Wall System

The Ankora Retaining Wall System has combined a large block, large footing plate along with an anchor pile and stainless-steel cabling to create the world’s first gridles, modular block retaining wall. The patented short pile anchor and tie down cabling system allows the installer to minimize excavation, eliminate geogrid and imported fill costs, while providing ductility to resist earthquake shaking.

Let’s have a look at the comparison between
a traditional wall and the Ankora Retaining Wall

Why choose the revolutionary Ankora retaining wall?

The traditional segmental block retaining walls exceeding 10′ feet in height required the extensive use of soil replacement with geogrid reinforced imported granular backfill. In steep hillside areas, this can result in significant extra costs and potential excavation challenges. The inventors of The Ankora Retaining Wall System sought to develop a simple to design and construct retaining wall system that allowed for the construction of higher segmental block retaining walls in stiff soils without the need for extensive excavation to accommodate the geogrid reinforced imported backfill.

Design Guidelines

The Ankora Retaining Wall System should be designed by engineers experienced in retaining wall design. This requires an understanding of the Geotechnical and Structural engineering principles associated with retaining wall design. Most importantly, the site-specific geotechnical soil properties need to be understood and carefully considered to provide a safe and cost-effective solution.

Only geotechnical and structural engineers experienced with retaining wall design should design Ankora retaining walls, and specific limitations are placed on designers by individual jurisdictions.
